The movie “Titanic” was released in 1997 and became a worldwide hit.

In the climactic scene, Jack (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) and Rose (played by Kate Winslet) are thrown overboard from the sinking luxury liner “Titanic.

The two then hold onto a door that has drifted in together and use it as a raft to drift. They watch helplessly as the Titanic sinks. The film ends in tragedy, as Jack runs out of steam and sinks to the bottom of the ocean.

However, fans have long questioned the director of this film, James Cameron, as to whether Jack could have survived.

So Cameron asked for scientific verification. The results were surprising.

In the soon-to-be-released special program “Titanic: 25 Years Later with James Cameron,” Cameron prepared stuntmen to play Jack and Rose, and used an indoor swimming pool to “perfectly recreate” this scene.

Rolling Stone magazine reported that the test proved that Jack could not survive more than 20 minutes underwater.

However, it is thought that if the pair had balanced themselves and drifted with most of their bodies on the raft door, they might have survived.

In other words, the long-held fan theory is not entirely wrong.

Cameron said in the program, “That’s the final verdict. Jack could have lived,” he said, adding, “But there are a lot of variables.

Cameron explained that “the fear of the passengers on the night the Titanic sank cannot be replicated in any experimental environment,” and that the psychological factors brought about by the fear and excitement of the time can alter the situation.

Cameron then said that “we should have made the raft smaller” to avoid such controversy regarding Jack.
