In May this year, the defamation trial that Johnny Depp filed against his ex-wife, Amber Heard, was held, attracting worldwide attention as many shocking photos and testimonies from the past came out. The trial was reported daily on TV and streamed online. Ultimately, Johnny was awarded $15 million by the jury, which was later reduced to $10 million, and Amber received $2 million.

After the trial, the free streaming service Tubi announced that it would make a film. Titled “Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial,” the film was being speedily produced for distribution on September 30.

The trailer for the film includes scenes recreating the famous trial, including some of Johnny and Amber’s testimony and the scrutiny Amber received on social media.

It also recreates a news reporter saying, “Today is the day of the defamation trial of Mr. Depp and Mr. Heard,” and fans gathering around the courthouse to support Johnny.

The film is directed by Sarah Lohman, who previously directed the made-for-TV films “The Reunion” and “Secrets in the Woods. The screenplay is by Guy Nicholucci of “The Daily Show”. The film stars Mark Hapka as Johnny, Megan Davis as Amber, Melissa Marti as Johnny’s attorney Camille Vazquez, and Mary Carrig as Amber’s attorney Elaine Bredehoeft.

The film will be available on Tubi starting September 30.
