Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter (42) was seen shedding tears at the first Backstreet Boys performance since the death of his brother, singer/actor Aaron Carter.

Aaron was found dead at his home in Lancaster, California on November 5 local time. He was 34 years old.

Nick’s group, Backstreet Boys, held a performance at the O2 Arena in London, England on November 6, the day after Aaron’s death. At the performance, as they performed “No Place,” a photo of Aaron was shown on the back screen in remembrance of him. Member Kevin Richardson hugged Nick’s tearful shoulder and said, “This song is very special to us. It’s about family. All of us here have grown up together. We’ve been a Backstreet family for 29 years and we thank you for all the love,” he said of the song.

We lost a member of our family yesterday. We lost a family member yesterday and I hope we can set aside some time for him at this show. Nick’s brother, Aaron Carter, passed away yesterday. He is a part of our family and we appreciate all the love, prayers and support from all of our fans.”

The Backstreet Boys also dedicated their 2013 song “Breath” to Aaron on that day, saying, “We want to dedicate this song to our brother, Aaron Carter. Brother, you will be missed,” mourned both Howie D. and Aaron.

Nick and Aaron’s twin angels released a memorial.

Prior to the performance, Nick mourned him by uploading a memorable photo of Aaron, whom he called by the nickname Chiz, to Instagram. He said, “My heart is breaking. My brother and I had a complicated relationship, but I never lost my love for him. I always hoped that he would somehow, someday, make it to a healthy place and get the support he so desperately needed. Sometimes we try to put the blame for our loss on someone or something else, but the truth here is that the real enemy is addiction and mental illness. I will miss my brother more than anyone else can imagine. I love you, Chiz. You have finally found the peace you could not find here on earth. I love you, my sweet brother,” he wrote to Aaron.

Aaron and Nick’s relationship was a complicated one, with Nick having issued a restraining order against Aaron in the past. Aaron also suffered from drug and mental health problems before his death and was in and out of rehab many times. Aaron, who had a child with Melanie but was to lose custody, said of the program at the facility, “We do group therapy, parenting classes, and domestic violence classes,” according to Page Six.

Shortly before Nick’s post, Aaron’s twin sibling, Angel Carter, also mourned Aaron by posting a photo of her and Aaron as children on Instagram.

‘To my twin. I love you immeasurably. You will be sincerely missed. My fun and sweet Aaron. I promise to cherish all the many memories of you and me. You have finally found peace. I will be with you all the way until I go over there and see you again,” he wrote.
