Apple Watch to Hold 50.6% Share of High-Performance Smartwatch Market in July -September 2022

Counterpoint Research, a Hong Kong-based research firm, recently released its findings on the global smartwatch market for July-September 2022.

Shipments of the “Apple Watch” grew 48% y/y.

Apple’s “Apple Watch Series 8,” which was released in September, performed well, and shipments of “Apple Watch” units increased 48% year-on-year.

 

In the HLOS category, which summarizes smartwatches with high-performance operating systems, Apple Watch ranked first with 50.6% of the total market share, but this was a slight decrease from 54% in April to June.

 

South Korea’s Samsung Electronics increased its shipments by 62% from April to June on the strength of its Galaxy Watch 5 series launched in September; its share in the HLOS category increased by 5% to take the No. 2 spot; and Samsung’s Samsung Watch 5 series, which was launched in September, increased its shipments by 62% from April to June.

 

India’s “Noise” regained first place in the Indian market with a 218% increase in unit sales over the same period last year. It took third place in the global market. Huawei, in fifth place, increased 65% y/y, but shipped zero units in India for the first time since 2018.
