Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s public display of affection

A Christmas concert hosted by Princess Catherine was recently held, attended by Princess Catherine, Prince William, and the couple’s eldest son, Prince George, and their eldest daughter, Princess Charlotte. At the concert, contrary to the “insistence” of Meghan, wife of Prince Henry, Prince George and Princess Charlotte hugged Queen Consort Camilla.

Recalling a dinner with Prince William and his wife in the Netflix documentary “Harry & Meghan,” Meghan said, “I like hugging, and it was normal for us to hug. I didn’t know that many English people find it offensive,” she said, suggesting that the two were not very comfortable with hugging. I quickly realized that what is formal outside is also formal inside,” he echoed, saying that in the royal family, “there is also a formality in the expression of affection in the home.

This story sounds rather cold to members of the royal family, but what is really going on? Chris Shipp, a reporter covering the royal family for ITV News in the U.K., showed footage of Prince William and his family greeting King Charles and Queen at a Christmas concert, saying, “Senior members of the royal family showed their solidarity tonight. There were expressions of affection (in public) between father and son, grandfather and grandson. (You might even see some hugging, which Meghan says the Brits find ‘uncomfortable. I’m sure it’s all a coincidence…,” she tweeted.

Although not clearly visible behind Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte appear to be hugging, rather than kissing, Queen Consort Camilla, and OK! Magazine (UK) also commented, “The warm welcome shown by the senior royal members suggests that the royal family has a formality in the expression of affection in the home and The hugs are not a formality in the royal family and dispel Meghan’s claims that she feels uncomfortable with hugs,” noted OK!
