This feat is sure to be another boost in his bid for a second MVP award.

In Sunday’s 27-24 win over the Denver Broncos, Mahomes eclipsed 5,000 passing yards for the second time in his career. Only Tom Brady and Drew Brees have recorded similar numbers in multiple years in the NFL Chronicle.

Mahomes, who entered the game 280 yards shy of his second 5,000-yard season, reached the milestone with a 17-yard touchdown pass to tight end (TE) Blake Bell in the fourth quarter.

The last time Mahomes eclipsed 5,000 yards was in 2018, when he won the NFL’s MVP award, and this feat will surely help him win his second MVP award.

Brady has surpassed 5,000 yards twice before, the second time coming last season. Brees, amazingly, has surpassed the 5,000-yard mark six times. However, his first achievement came as late as his eighth year, and his second was in his 11th season. Mahomes has achieved it twice in the first six seasons of his career, reaffirming his unprecedented talent.

Mahomes, who clearly showed his power on Sunday, may collect further milestones and accolades during the season.
