Customer at Starbucks is warned for her attire

A woman living abroad claims that an employee pointed out a dress code violation at a Starbucks on a university campus.

When she visited Starbucks, the woman was wearing a tube top. According to her story, the tube top was considered problematic, and she was told by the employee, “I’m sorry, but this is a (university) facility, and you are required to wear a Full Shirt (* presumably meaning clothing that does not reveal too much skin).

The woman was not convinced by the store’s claim, but she had no choice but to leave the store because she had no clothes to change into. The woman posted the video on TikTok in August of last year, but the story was picked up by the New York Post in December, making it a hot topic again.

It is not common to hear of people being warned about their attire at Starbucks, but it is “common” at theme parks such as Disneyland and Universal Studios. At Disneyland, guests were ordered to change their clothes in December because of inappropriate illustrations on their T-shirts. Incidentally, Disneyland and Universal Studios have taken measures such as denying admission to the park to those who do not change their clothes.

Airlines also have dress codes, and there are often problems with passengers over what they wear when boarding airplanes. In the past, model Olivia Culpo was warned by airline staff for exposing too much skin.
