The NFC had already decided on six teams, with the Seattle Seahawks, Detroit Lions, and Green Bay Packers battling it out for the seventh seed, but the Seahawks made the playoffs. The Philadelphia Eagles also won to clinch the NFC East title and the No. 1 seed.
Hopeless Lions Defeat Packers with Determination and Pride
While the AFC had seven teams seeded after the 1 p.m. ET game, the NFC had to wait until the 4 p.m. ET game and the Sunday night game to decide the seeding.
In the 4 p.m. game, the Seahawks battled the Los Angeles Rams and defeated them in overtime to improve to 9-8. At this stage, the Lions’ hopes of making the playoffs were ended.

The #1 seeded Eagles are exempt from the first round of the playoffs (wild card); the first round matchup will be Seahawks @ 49ers, Giants @ Vikings, Cowboys @ Buccaneers.
