In response, the NFL placed Sills on the commissioner’s exclusion list.

The league said in a statement, “Sills will not be able to participate in practices or games or travel with the team while he is placed on the commissioner’s exclusion list. This matter will be reviewed under the NFL’s Code of Personal Conduct”.

According to an indictment issued Wednesday by a jury in Ohio’s Guernsey County General Sessions Court, Sills engaged in sexual conduct without consent in December 2019 and held the victim against her will.

Sills played one game for the Eagles this season. He participated in four snaps on special teams in the season’s Week 5 win over the Arizona Cardinals. Sills has been listed as inactive for two postseason games.

In a statement released Wednesday, the Eagles said, “Our organization is aware of the legal issues involving Josh Sills. We are in contact with the league office and are in the process of gathering more information. We are unable to comment further at this time.”

The 25-year-old Sills is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, February 16, four days after the Eagles play in the 57th Super Bowl in Glendale, Arizona.

A native of Sarahsville, Ohio, Sills played collegiately at West Virginia University and Oklahoma State University before entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent (FA) in 2022.
