A message against “body shaming

When Selena Gomez attended the 80th Golden Globe Awards in January this year, netizens who saw her wrote heartless comments such as “You need to lose some weight” and “You look like a different person than before.

On Thursday, February 16, Selena went live on TikTok and sent a message in response to the “body-shaming” by the media and anti-fashion critics.

First of all, she explained that when she is taking medication for her chronic disease lupus (systemic lupus erythematosus, one of the designated incurable diseases), she experiences “water weight gain” (weight gain and swelling of body parts due to a temporary increase in the amount of water in the body). When I stop taking the medication, I tend to lose weight,” she revealed.

In response to those who made insensitive comments, she added, “So, yeah, I’m not a model, and I’m never going to be one. I’m not a model, and I never will be,” she said sarcastically. I think modeling people are great, I just don’t think I’m one,” she added sarcastically.

Selena also stressed the importance of “self-love” to her fans.

I just wanted to encourage those who are ashamed of what they are going through, those who feel like no one knows what they are really going through. I want them to know that you are beautiful and amazing.

Selena added, “Some days I may feel like crap, but I’d rather be healthy (than look). But I would rather be healthy and take care of myself. I believe that the medicine I take is important and helps me,” she said.

After sharing her love with her fans, Selena strongly told the antis to “go away” and “honestly, I don’t believe in people who shame me about my body and things like that.
