For Duchess Catherine, the much-publicised Fab Four reunion was “one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do”.

On 8 September last year, the former British monarch Queen Elizabeth died. Two days later, on 10 September, Prince William, Catherine and her husband, Prince Harry and Meghan, who were once known as the ‘Fab Four*’ and who had fascinated royal fans, appeared together in front of Windsor Castle. They made a big splash as they greeted the gathered crowds.

*The name is an abbreviation of the word ‘fabulous’ and the word ‘foursome’.

Since the departure of Prince Harry and his wife from the senior royal family, it was thought that the feud between the brothers had deepened, and it was rumoured that the sudden return of the Fab Four might be the beginning of a reconciliation, but it seems that the story is not so simple as that.

The behind-the-scenes story of the day has now been revealed in ‘Our King’, published by royal correspondent Robert Jobson.

In the book, he writes: “Catherine revealed to senior members of the public about the day’s events, that there was an awkward atmosphere between the two couples, and that it was the most difficult thing that had ever happened in her life.

It is reported that it was Prince William’s suggestion that the two couples should appear together in front of the crowd. He wanted to show people that the royal family was united after the death of Queen Elizabeth.

However, a few months later, Prince Harry and his wife distributed the documentary ‘Harry & Meghan’ on Netflix.

In it, Prince Harry made comments that could be seen as a dig at his brother and sister-in-law, saying that Prince William had chosen a woman who could ‘fit the mould’ rather than ‘the woman of his dreams’.

He also criticised Prince William and his wife in his memoir SPARE, which was released in January this year. It is believed that his feud with his brother may have deepened.

King Charles’ coronation will take place on 6 May, but the attendance of Prince and Princess Harry, who should have received an invitation, remains unclear.

Unless there is an improvement in relations, even if Prince Harry and his wife attend, there will no doubt be discord in the ‘Fab Four’.
