Daisy Ridley is not likely to star in the lead role.

A new Star Wars film was recently announced. The three films will take place in the past, present and future of the Skywalker saga, with the future instalment to feature Rey, the protagonist of the follow-up trilogy (Episodes 7-9), and actress Daisy Ridley making a comeback.

In the meantime, the latest episode of the podcast show The Hot Mic, hosted by film critics John Rocha and Jeffrey Snyder, was released.

As they talk about the new Star Wars film, John Rocha reveals that Daisy will not be the protagonist of the film.

John went on to say that Daisy will be on the side of building up the new Jedi Order in the new film, saying, “As far as I’m aware, Daisy is unlikely to be the protagonist.”

Jeffrey Snyder also declared that Daisy would “never” be a protagonist. He said that Daisy would only play a supporting role.

In announcing the production of the new Star Wars film, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Genedy said of Daisy’s role: “The film will take place 15 years after Skywalker’s Dawn. This is when the new Jedi Order is being created. In Episode IX, Rey promised Luke Skywalker that she would create a new Jedi Order,” she outlined, “and finally, we’re ready. We’ve been working on all kinds of historical backgrounds and recently we’ve been focusing on streaming. So we had a lot of discussions about it. Still, we have a great interest in what happens after ‘Skywalker’s Dawn’. We are very excited to be working on that part of the project this time,” he added.
