The first “thing” in the history of Star Wars has gone viral.

The Mandalorian character Dr Pershing’s costume seems to break the rules that George Lucas allegedly set for the Star Wars universe.

The Mandalorian is the first live-action drama in the Star Wars series, available on Disney Plus. It is currently streaming up to season 3, in which Doctor Pershing, played by Omid Abtahi, appears as a scientist who takes blood from the Glogoo.

Dr Pershing’s costume has a feature that has never been seen before in the Star Wars series.

That is “glasses”.

Previously, in Star Wars Legends, the extended Star Wars universe, two Ewok characters, Noah (in Ewoks: The Battle for Endor) and Thorn Dan (in Star Wars Holiday Special), have worn glasses. The characters appeared wearing glasses.

Since then, although there have been several characters wearing glasses in animated and comic book versions, Doctor Pershing is the first live-action character to appear in the canonical history of Star Wars.

It is believed that the reason why few characters wearing glasses have appeared in the series so far is due to the insistence of the original creator, George Lucas.

George Lucas wanted to show that Star Wars was set in a fantasy world far removed from the everyday technology of Earth.

The Doctor Pershing glasses that appeared in the film may perhaps not have been designed to correct vision, as they are used on Earth.

However, it could be seen as a sign that Star Wars is reaching a turning point from Lucas’s previous beliefs.
