Disney’s latest live-action film, The Little Mermaid, opened in the US on Friday 26 May and has been a huge hit.

Halle Bailey, who plays the lead character Ariel, personally visited the theatre to see the film, which has received high praise from critics and audiences.

Some people were seen around her, taking photos in front of a giant sign with Halle in it, but none of them seemed to notice him walking in front of them.

Halle said in the video, “I can’t believe The Little Mermaid is the number one hit in the world at the moment! I went to see it in the theatre last night,” she captioned the video with an emoticon expressing her excitement.

The video added: ‘I can’t believe I could have been watching The Little Mermaid next door! ‘I want to tell the people taking photos at the billboards, “There he is!”‘ I’m glad you were able to watch the film without anyone noticing.

According to a report by Deadline, the live-action version of The Little Mermaid is estimated to have grossed $163.8 million (¥22.9 billion) at the worldwide box office in its first three days.

This is a record, surpassing the opening performance of the live-action version of Aladdin, which was released in 2019 and was a huge hit.

The much-anticipated live-action version of The Little Mermaid will be released in Japan on Friday 9 June.
