The latest film from Academy Award-winning director Damian Chazelle (“La La Land”), “Babylon,” featuring Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, and a star-studded cast, will be released in Japan in 2023, and the first look of the film has been released.
The trailer for “Babylon” has been released simultaneously around the world.
La La Land” was an extraordinarily big hit worldwide, winning six Academy Awards at the 89th Academy Awards for its superb musical entertainment depicting a sweet and sad love story between a man and a woman trying to make their dreams come true in Hollywood. Babylon” is once again set in Hollywood and tells the story of Damian Chazelle, the young genius who was the youngest director ever to win an Academy Award and is truly one of the most beloved young filmmakers of all time. He also wrote the screenplay himself for the first time since “La La Land,” showing his strong enthusiasm for his work.
The story takes place in Hollywood during the Golden Age of the 1920s, a time of transition from silent films to talkies, and portrays a man and woman who try to fulfill their dreams in the film industry. The film stars Brad Pitt, who won the 92nd Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” and is still fresh in our minds from his recent visit to Japan. The film features a dream combination of a director and main cast who are regulars at award shows, including Margot Robbie, who co-starred with Brad Pitt in “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” and was nominated for the 92nd Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for “Scandal” and is famous for her role as Harley Quinn in the DC movie. Other co-stars include Tobey Maguire (“Spider-Man” series), Samara Weaving (“G.I. Joe: Jet Black Snake Eyes”), Olivia Wilde (“Book Smart: The Party Debut on Graduation Eve”), Katherine Waterston ( Fantastic Beasts” series), up-and-coming Diego Calva (“Narcos: Mexico Edition”), Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Free, and a diverse cast.
The music was composed by Justin Hurwitz, who composed that famous song from “La La Land” that is still used daily in commercials and won the 89th Academy Award for Best Composition and Best Song. The film is also notable for its composition of music from the heyday of jazz, known as the “Jazz Age.
The trailer released along with the film depicts the gorgeous and crazy Golden Age of Hollywood with luxurious 1920s fashion as typified by Chanel, lavish parties held every night, and large-scale film shoots, all set to the rhythm of vibrant jazz music.
