A heated battle has broken out between Noel Gallagher (56), formerly of Oasis, and Matty Healy (34), frontman of The 1975.
Noel Gallagher fired back, “Break up your shitty band.
In one interview, Matty accused Noel of not reuniting Oasis. In response, Noel shot back, describing Matty with the F-word and saying, “Break up the shitty band.” Matty then referred to this on stage and threw in some humorous words toward Noel.
The battle between Noel Gallagher and Matty Healy began when Matty gave an interview to the Canadian media outlet CBC in February of this year.
Matty made the following comment to brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, formerly of the British rock band Oasis, that they should put aside their long-standing feud and reunite the band.
‘What the hell is Oasis doing? Can you imagine potentially the coolest band in the world not working because they’re furious at their own brothers?”
They’re celebrities who understand how the public feels. And yet they are locked up in their homes in Little Venice and Highgrove, fighting and crying with their brothers. Grow up! You’re headlining Glastonbury!”
The rock band Oasis, formed by Noel and Liam in Manchester, England, has produced numerous hits since its debut in 1994. However, just before a performance in August 2009, a fight broke out between the brothers backstage, and the band broke up without a trace.
Since then, fans have been expecting the band to reunite. So far, Liam has made comments on his social networking site that hinted at a reunion, and Noel has called on Liam to “give me a call. In April, however, Noel completely denied the band’s reunion theory, saying that they would never play together.
In May, Noel responded to Matty’s February statement in an interview with the U.S. music media outlet “Spin” with a fierce rebuke.
When asked, “Did you hear what Matty Healy said about Oasis a few months ago?” Noel asked, “Oh, you mean that fucking slack-jawed moron. What did he say?” I asked back.
When the interviewer explained the nature of Matty’s comment, Noel replied, “You’ll never guess what that guy said. He should take a good look at how much his band sucks and break it up.
Matty was not silent when he learned of this, and he fired back on stage at a concert in Dublin, the capital of Ireland, on the 7th (local time).
Matty smiled and said, “Noel Gallagher called me a ‘fucking slack-jawed moron. But I love Noel!” He continued.
We asked Liam to open up to us, but he said, ‘I’d do it, but I’m busy. But I love Noel. He’s just on a roll.”
The difference between me and Noel is that I do interviews to promote the album, and he does them to promote a series of interviews.”
As the audience applauded and cheered, Matty said, “But we love Noel! Get Oasis back together!” he called out.
On May 3, Matty was rumored to be dating U.S. singer Taylor Swift, and they have been spotted dating several times since then. However, their breakup was reported on May 5 this month.
