The release date of Marvel’s “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” has been postponed.

According to ComingSoon.net, an entertainment website that provides movie information, the release date of “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,” the latest in the “Avengers” series, has been changed from May 2, 2025 to May 1, 2026.

The reason for the postponement is said to be related to the “screenwriters’ strike*” that is currently taking place in Hollywood.

The strike is a result of the breakdown of negotiations between the Writers Guild of America (WGA), to which about 11,500 screenwriters in the U.S. belong, and the Alliance of Motion Picture Producers of America (AMPTP), regarding higher wages and better compensation.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who helmed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021). According to Kevin Figi, president of Marvel, the film is planned as the final film in Phase 6 of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe).

The cast of “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” has not been announced at this time, but it is said that Jonathan Majors (“Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”) will play the villain. Jonathan was arrested this spring on charges of assaulting a woman. He later dropped the charges, but it is not clear if this will affect the casting of the film.
