The Pokémon World Championships, a world tournament held since 2004, determines the world champion in each category, with many players from around the world participating each year.

It is an annual tournament in which players who have won the qualifying rounds from around the world aim to become the world’s best with their favorite Pokémon monsters.

The World Tournament has been held mainly in the U.S. and Canada, but in 2022, it will be held in London, England, for the first time in the European region. And this year, for the first time in the Asian region, it will be held in Yokohama, Japan. This year, the world champions will be decided in four divisions: Game, Card Game, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon Unite. (*The game and card game divisions have three categories, Junior, Senior, and Master, each of which determines the world champion.)

The winner (team) of the “Pokémon Unite” category is Luminosity, representing North America, and the winner of the “Pokémon GO” category is ItsAXN from the United States.

The winners of the Pokémon Card division were SHAO TONG YEN from Taiwan for Junior, GABRIEL FERNANDEZ from Brazil for Senior, and VANCE KELLEY from the United States for Master.

Until the finals of the games division, no Japanese player had won this year’s tournament, and fans were hoping that someone would win the trophy, since the event was held in their home country. The final match in the junior category of the games division was a showdown between Japanese players, and the first Japanese player to win this year’s tournament was confirmed. In the final of the junior category of the games section, the final match was between two Japanese players, and the first Japanese player to win this year’s tournament was confirmed as the winner.

The senior category final was played between Tomoya Ogawa (Japan) and Robbie Schaaij (Netherlands). Ogawa won, becoming the second Japanese player to win this year’s tournament (Pokémon WCS 2023).

The Master Category final was between Kimura Shohei (Japan) and Michael Kelsch (Germany), with Kimura winning. Kimura won the final match in the Master category.

In his victory interview, Kimura said, “I am glad that this event was held in Yokohama…” He was deeply moved. He thanked his friends and fans for their support, saying, “Thank you! to his friends and fans who supported him.

Ogawa, the winner in the senior category, said shyly, “Oh man…! embarrassed, and when asked by the host, “What is your next goal? He made the audience laugh with his private answer, which had nothing to do with Pokémon.

Ebisawa, who won in the junior category, said, “I am happy that I was able to repay my debt to my family! I’m happy to have repaid my family!
