Singer Madonna (64) released a statement on her social networking site for the first time since she was taken to an emergency room. She expressed her gratitude to her fans and other concerned parties, and reported that she is “on the road to recovery” regarding her current state of health.

Madonna was rushed to a New York hospital and admitted to the intensive care unit after suffering a serious bacterial infection on June 24 local time. On June 29, she was discharged from the hospital and returned to her home in New York by a private emergency service.
On July 9, Madonna was seen strolling with a woman believed to be her friend on a street corner in New York City.
On July 10, the day after that, Madonna published a statement on her Instagram, the first since she was taken to emergency services. The statement, written on a black screen, addressed her fans and others concerned, and read thusly.
‘Thank you all for your positive energy, prayers, healing and encouragement. I feel your love and support. I am on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life.”
Madonna was scheduled to begin a world tour in July of this year, but the tour was postponed after she was rushed to the hospital. In a statement, she revealed the following about that.
When I woke up in the hospital, my first thought was of my children. My second thought was that I didn’t want to disappoint the people who had bought tickets to my tour.
