On July 12, the Spanish newspaper “As” reported that Paris SG has set a deadline for Mbappe to make a decision on whether to leave the French national team this summer.

Mbappe, who is under contract until the summer of 2024, has so far refused a contract extension offered by the club, while hoping to stay on until this season. In response, the club offered him two options: leave the club this summer, when transfer fees are due, or accept a contract extension.

According to reports, Mbappe wants to play until 2024 so as not to lose a single euro of the €80 million (¥12.35 billion) bonus he will receive on his contract.

The club has stated that the deadline to decide whether to renew the contract is next week. Half of the bonus, 40 million euros (¥6.175 billion), will be paid by Paris SG to Mbappe on July 31, and they have told him that they hope to resolve the issue before that date.

It also said that “if Paris SG decides not to sell on July 17, Mbappe will return to Poissy, France, to train. The paper reported that if Mbappe, who is currently on vacation, misses this training session, his promise to pay his bonus on July 31 will be void.
