Former Lostprophets Singer Ian Watkins Stabbed in Prison, Critical Condition

Former Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins, who is serving time for sex crimes, was stabbed in prison and rushed to the hospital.

According to the Daily Mirror, a British newspaper, Watkins was restrained by three inmates shortly after 9 a.m. on Saturday (August 5) and assaulted for about six hours.

Sources told the paper that Watkins, who was found by prison officials, is in a life-threatening condition.

The Sun also reported that the men took Watkins to a cell, locked him up, and continued to assault him. Watkins was also reportedly stabbed in the neck. It is speculated that the attack may have been aimed at Saturday, when there are usually fewer staff.

A spokesman for HM Prison Service, which manages prisons in the UK, commented only that police are investigating.

Watkins was arrested in 2012 on suspicion of attempting to rape and sexually assault children under the age of 13, including infants, possessing, producing/distributing indecent images of children, and possessing extreme pornography involving animals, and was later convicted and sentenced to 29 years in prison.
