Drew Barrymore was barely able to contain her surprise when a man interrupted her onstage at a talk event where she was speaking.

A man interrupted a talk event at which Drew Barrymore took the stage at the 92nd Street Y in New York City on August 21 (U.S. time). It happened just as Drew was about to start a conversation with singer and actress Reneé Rapp.
The man began by shouting Drew Barrymore’s name, “Drew Barrymore! and approached the stage shouting Drew’s name. Drew was surprised to hear her name suddenly shouted in the middle of a conversation, but she responded in a friendly manner, “Yes, hello! and a good-natured reply.
But the man said, “You know who I am, don’t you? I need to see you while you’re in New York.” René, sensing the danger in the man’s unusual appearance, stood up to protect Drew and took him to the side of the stage. The man was taken away by two security guards who rushed to the scene.
Drew and Reneé reappeared on stage after a while as the audience went wild. The talk event was resumed, but first of all, Reneé praised Drew, “When asked if I needed a break, she was like, ‘Absolutely! It’s okay!'” I found a new kind of sexiness, how you protect me! You’re my Kevin Costner for being my bodyguard!” she commented on the movie The Bodyguard. The exchange between the two received thunderous applause from the audience.

According to Fox News, the security guard initially thought the man walking down the aisle was a guest looking for a seat. Drew has not released a statement on the matter, but a source said, “He is not threatening her, nor is he a stalker that (Drew’s side) is familiar with. In fact, (Drew) said he had never experienced anything like this before,” she told Fox News.
