Abraham Tolentino, 59, the president of the Philippine Olympic Committee, has revealed this information.

According to the report, President Abraham Tolentino explained, “Senator Pacquiao’s camp contacted me and said, ‘Pacquiao himself wants to compete at the Paris Olympics. They have informed him that his goal is to win an Olympic gold medal at the age of 45.

Pacquiao, now 44 years old, is not eligible to compete in the Asian Games in September because of the age limit of 40 or younger, making it difficult for him to qualify for the Olympics before the end of the year. However, the report said that he could compete in one of the two Olympic qualifying tournaments scheduled to be held early next year.

The rules for the Olympic boxing competition were changed in 2016. The Olympic boxing competition was opened to professional athletes, and former IBF world flyweight champion Amnat Ruenroeng (Thailand) competed in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Also, at the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, the expected rising star of the heavyweight division, Bakhodir Jalolov (Uzbekistan), who had eight professional fights, won the gold medal in the super heavyweight division.

Pacquiao has signed a contract to fight with RIZIN. Also, a boxing match against former K-1 World MAX champion Buakhao Banjamek (41-Thailand) has been announced for next January in Thailand. He is expected to move on to Olympic boxing soon after finishing his fights with these fighters.
