Actor Jason Momoa, who stars in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) film series “Aquaman,” was eager to continue Amber Heard’s role as Mera in the sequel “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” (“Aquaman 2”). Entertainment critic and consultant Katherine Arnold testified at the trial.

As many of you know, Amber is currently in the midst of a trial with her ex-husband, also an actor, Johnny Depp. The trigger was an op-ed Amber wrote for the Washington Post in 2018. In it, Amber accused Johnny of domestic violence, although she did not name him. Johnny sued Amber for $50 million in damages, claiming that it was defamatory. Amber, on the other hand, is suing Johnny for $100 million, claiming that she has been severely affected by a smear campaign designed to damage her career and reputation.

Aquaman” was a great opportunity for Amber to further her career as an actress, but there was some discord over “Aquaman 2,” as a protracted legal battle with Johnny led to a petition drive demanding that Amber be dropped from the film. Although she eventually managed to get into the film, Amber said in court that Warner Brothers, the film’s producer, did not want her back on board, and that her scenes were cut down significantly.

Arnold, who took the stand at the trial on May 23 local time, claimed that Amber was only able to appear in “Aquaman 2” because lead actor Jason and director James Wan strongly wanted her in the film. He suggested that the studio was not keen on having Amber return to the franchise, and that it was only with the strong backing of Jason, director Wan, and Amber’s own management team that she was able to appear in the next film.

Incidentally, it is said that Warner Bros. was reluctant to cast Amber in “Aquaman 2” because studio leaders were concerned about the lack of chemistry between Jason and Amber, who are romantically involved in the film.

Although Arnold was dismissive of this theory, Jessica Kovacevic, the talent agent in charge of Amber, acknowledged that the conflict with Johnny had caused a great deal of loss and damage to Amber’s career, and she also said that Amber’s performance as Mera in “Aquaman 2” had been reduced. She stated at trial that she was given the explanation that the decrease was due to “the lack of chemistry between Amber and Jason.
