Singer Camila Cabello refused to cut lyrics about Fifth Harmony from her new song “Psychofreak”.
Because it’s a big part of my personal journey.
Camila released her long-awaited new album, “Familia,” this past April. The album includes the song “Psychofreak,” a collaboration with Will Smith’s daughter Willow, in which Camilla says, “I’ve been on this ride since I was 15, I don’t blame the girls For how it went down, down.” In the song, Camila mentions her former group, Fifth Harmony.
Later, Camila herself admitted to Reuters that the aforementioned lyrics were about her departure from the group. Incidentally, the word “down” in the song is also the title of the first single released by the new four-member Fifth Harmony after Camila’s departure.
Camila explained to Cosmopolitan magazine why she did not cut the lyrics, “I felt it was important to leave it as is because it [the lyrics] are a big part of my personal journey. I think it really explains how I got to where I am mentally, emotionally, and psychologically. Maybe for everyone else in the group, too. I thought it was important because I haven’t really talked about that in my songs before,” he said. She felt that the song would be good not only for herself but also for the other members of the group.
Camila also revealed that she discussed “Psychofreak” with former member Normani when they met again at the fashion festival “2022 Met Gala” held in New York in May this year.

We just laughed, had fun, and spent time together. She had really neat things to say (about the song) and is generally a really cool and supportive person. I try to be super supportive as well. I feel like we’re in a great place. I really feel that way about the other girls, and I feel really good.
