U.S. snowboard equipment manufacturer Burton Snowboards is exploring the possibility of selling itself for up to $800 million. Several people familiar with the situation have revealed this.
The company is working with advisors on a possible sale.
The Vermont-based family-owned company is working with advisors on a possible sale, according to the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the information is confidential. The company is said to be attracting interest from a firm specializing in corporate acquisitions.
The official said that consideration of a potential acquisition is in the early stages, and there is no certainty that a deal will be reached. A Barton representative did not return a request for comment.
Burton said the company, founded by Jake Burton Carpenter in 1977, has offices in Japan, Australia, Canada, China, and Austria.
He died in 2019, and his wife, Donna Carpenter, is now chairman and John Lacy is CEO.
