Apple is expected to unveil a new Apple Watch as well as the iPhone 14 series at a special event to be held soon. This year, a high-end, robust watch is expected to be introduced, which may be called the Apple Watch Pro. Expectations are also high for the Series 8.
Apple launches a new watch designed for parents to give to their children.
On September 1, the New York Times (NYT) published an article reporting that Apple is launching a new watch with cellular connectivity that is designed to be carried by parents for their children. According to two people familiar with the situation, this model is expected to be “a new version of the Apple Watch, less expensive than the Apple Watch SE,” and will be announced along with a Pro model for serious athletes and others.
So will the new, less expensive model that the NYT predicts will be the fourth watch alongside the Series 8, SE, and Pro? The author does not think so. It is reasonable to assume that Apple will retire the current SE and introduce a less expensive model as the second generation SE.
As for the price, which is a concern, given that the current SE is $279 and the Series 3 is $199, we can expect the second-generation SE to be around $249. At this price, if it has a newer processor than the original SE, it would represent a standout value.
What is of interest here is what the next SE will look like. Will it be similar to the Series 6, like the current SE, or will it be a continuation of the Series 7’s new design? The answer will be revealed at the event on September 7 at 10:00 AM.
