Prince Harry and Princess Meghan have been demoted to the bottom of the list, along with Prince Andrew.
On “The Royal Family,” a page on the official royal website that introduces members of the royal family, the couple’s names had until recently been listed below the senior members, but after the death of Queen Elizabeth, the couple’s introduction was rearranged above Prince Andrew, who is at the bottom of the list, the British Telegram reported.
The names of Prince Harry, 38, and his wife Meghan, 41, were relegated to the bottom of the list, along with Prince Andrew.
Before leaving the royal family, their names were just below their older brother Prince William and his wife, Prince William, and about a year and three months ago, following their departure, they were moved below King Charles’ brother Prince Edward and his wife and sister Princess Anne, but in the newly updated page, the Queen’s cousins Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester, Duke of Kent Prince Edward and his sister Princess Alexandra, are now located under the Queen’s cousin, Prince Edward and his sister, Princess Alexandra.
Prince Andrew retired from official duties in 2019 following allegations of sexual assault of a minor, and Prince Harry and his wife, who are not performing official duties, are believed to have been demoted to a similar position.
The paper reported that King Charles’ accession to the throne reflects his long-held vision of “streamlining the royal family,” and that the Queen’s cousins, who are not currently performing official duties, have had their names removed from the page entirely.
The King is also reportedly planning a simpler coronation ceremony, less costly than that of his mother, the Queen, in order to reduce tax expenditures in light of the situation in the UK, where the cost of living is rising due to severe inflation.
As for the couple’s position in the royal family, it has become a topic of discussion that the titles of the children have not yet been changed on the official website, although as grandchildren of the Queen, the two children are automatically given the status of “Prince” and “Princess” and are entitled to the title of “HRH (His or Her Royal Highness)” after the death of the Queen.
