In the documentary “Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me,” which will soon be released on Apple TV+, the singer and actress reveals how she felt when she was first diagnosed with bipolar disorder (a mental illness that causes recurrent bouts of active mania and depressed mood). Selena Gomez has made a frank confession about her mental state.

In the trailer for the film released on October 26 (Wed.), Selena honestly stated, “When I was told that for the first time, I didn’t know how to process the diagnosis,” and added, “If it happens again, I’ll have to go back to my original self. I thought, “What if it happens again? What if the next time I have symptoms, I can’t get back to my normal self? Then I spent my days learning more about the disease. I took it one day at a time,” Serena continued.

 

In the latter half of the trailer, Selena says, “I am happier now. I am more in control of my emotions and thoughts than ever before,” she says, and there is a scene in which she emphasizes that the most important part of treatment is “connection with others.

 

Selena said that her involvement with others has an impact on her treatment, “It helps me to get away from my overthinking.

 

Selena first confessed to having bipolar disorder in 2020, when she appeared on singer Miley Cyrus’ “Bright Minded” Instagram live show.

 

In a subsequent interview with ELLE magazine, Selena said that after years of suffering from anxiety and mood swings, the diagnosis of bipolar disorder “felt like a heavy weight had been lifted from my shoulders.
