Following the completion of the acquisition of Twitter by Elon Musk, 51, CEO of the US electric vehicle (EV) giant Tesla, there are rumors that former US President Trump, whose account was permanently frozen for inciting the attack on the US Capitol last January, will return to Twitter.

Trump’s Twitter ban was “a mistake, I think.”

In May of this year, Mr. Musk stated that he “thought it was a mistake” to ban Mr. Trump from Twitter and that he intended to reinstate the account of the former president, who had more than 88 million followers before the acquisition. Mr. Musk fired four of Twitter’s top executives, including CEO Agrawal, soon after the acquisition. According to U.S. media, this included Gadde, head of legal and policy, who is known as a central figure in the permanent banning of Trump.

In response to the reports, Trump on October 28 said, “I love Truth!” but posted on his social networking site Truth Social that he was “glad Twitter is in sound hands. “In an interview with FOX News, he said, “I love Elon. I wish him luck. I wish him good luck and hope he does well. On the other hand, he said he plans to stay on his social networking site Truth because it is “safe and comfortable,” and he declined to say whether he would use Twitter again when Musk unfreezes his account permanently and reinstates it.

However, a source close to Trump told USA Today that he has only 4.36 million followers on Truth Social, 5% of Twitter’s total, and that Trump may change his mind and return to Twitter when the account is restored.
