It is against Aaron’s wishes.

Before his death, Aaron Carter spent about three years with author Andy Simmons co-writing his autobiography book, Aaron Carter: An Incomplete Story of an Incomplete Life. The book will now be released on November 15. However, Ballast Books’ decision to publish the book only 10 days after Aaron’s death was controversial. Aaron’s former girlfriend, Hilary Duff, also voiced her opposition.

In the meantime, attorney Scott Atherton, who represents Ballast Books and author Andy Simmons, released a statement to Page Six. In “Out of respect for Mr. Carter’s family, my client has decided to delay further publication of this book at this time. He continued, “Mr. Carter was not just a celebrity, but a father, a brother, a son, and a friend to many who are still grieving for him.”

And in his statement, Atherton claimed that Aaron “wanted his story told” and chose Simmons, “a respected journalist and writer, to tell that story with its beauty and rawness.

He adds, “Lately, public attention has been focused on the few interactions with Mr. Carter in his early years. More importantly, what can people learn from Mr. Carter’s life and his professional successes, personal struggles, and tragic death?” the statement continued.

Meanwhile, Aaron’s agent revealed that Aaron himself had tried to stop the book’s publication. “Aaron stopped in the middle of [working on the book], saying, ‘I don’t want anything to do with this,'” the statement continued, “and it is against Aaron’s wishes to publish it.”
