Actress Jenna Ortega revealed that she cried a lot because the schedule for “Wednesday,” in which she starred, was too demanding.

The popular Netflix drama “Wednesday” is a spin-off of the hit 1990s film series “The Addams Family” that follows the school life of Wednesday, the brainy and cynical eldest daughter of the Addams family. The series is directed by the brilliant Tim Burton.

Although “Wednesday” is on such a roll, behind the scenes, lead actress Jenna Ortega’s schedule has been grueling.

Jenna took fencing and cello lessons to prepare for her role in Wednesday, a schedule that took its toll on her. She also contracted a new type of coronavirus during filming.

In a Q&A with Variety magazine, Jenna said, “I came to the set two hours before, worked 12 to 14 hours, went home and took all kinds of lessons on Zoom. Sometimes I would go to my apartment and my cello teacher would already be there waiting for me. And on the weekends, if I didn’t have a shoot on the sixth day of the week, I’d say, ‘Okay, I’ll take lessons that day.

The cello sequence in which Jenna plays “Paint it Black” was particularly difficult. Jenna had to change teachers because she was filming overseas, and although she had to use two cellos to play this song, she ended up using only one.

I couldn’t sleep at all,” she said. I even pulled my hair out. I cried hysterically on FaceTime [videophone], and there was so much of that, and my father answered that call,” she said, revealing that it had an effect on her mental health.

However, director and producer Tim Burton reassured Jenna, saying, “Don’t worry, you’re doing your best and it’s going to be very good.

As filming progressed, Jenna said, “We started running out of time because Wednesday was in almost every scene,” and added, “If we didn’t have time to put our hands in, we would use a stunt double or even a cello double, but it was more believable to see my face. But seeing my face made it more believable, and I wanted to make myself available, so I was adamant about being as prepared as possible,” she said, revealing that she managed to get through the shoot with professionalism.
