Racial Discrimination in the Royal Family Emerges

It all started when Ngozi Fulani, CEO of Sister Space, a support group for victims of domestic violence, attended a reception at Buckingham Palace. Ngozi, who has Caribbean-African roots, was asked by Mrs. Susan Hussey, a veteran royal aide, “Where are you from?” He replied, “I was born and raised in England,” but repeatedly asked, “Where do you and your tribe come from?” She persistently asked me about my roots, such as “Where did you come from?

When Ms. Ngozi posted the content of this conversation on Twitter, it immediately attracted attention and raised the issue of racism in the royal family. In response, it was announced that Mrs. Susan Hussey, who had served Queen Elizabeth and the royal family for many years, had resigned.

Then, on November 30, Prince William and Princess Catherine also issued a statement. They said, “We are very disappointed to hear that our guests have experienced this. Racism has no place in this society. These comments (made by Mrs. Susan Hussey) are unacceptable and she was right to step down immediately,” and condemned Mrs. Hussey’s remarks.

Mrs. Susan Hussey was the maid of honor of the late Queen Elizabeth for many years and is said to have been a close friend. She was also one of Prince William’s godmothers (baptismal witnesses) and an important person.

In response to Mrs. Hussey’s statement, the royal family said, “We take this incident extremely seriously and have conducted an immediate investigation to uncover the full facts. Unacceptable and deeply regrettable comments were made in this case. We have contacted Ms. Ngozi Fulani regarding this matter and offered to discuss everything she went through if she so desired,” commented Mrs. Hussey, announcing that she has resigned.
