US President Joe Biden will not attend the coronation of King Charles.
The British royal family’s King Charles will officially become King at his coronation on 6 May this year.
An invitation to attend the ceremony has also been sent to US President Joe Biden, but he is apparently expected to decline.
The UK Telegraph reported that the President’s side had already made plans for that day.
On the other hand, a source says: “It is possible that some effort is still being made to persuade President Biden to attend the coronation”.
It also appears that President Biden is not declining the invitation this time because of a feud.
It should be noted that, to date, no US president has ever attended the coronation of a new monarch of another country. Although President Biden will not attend King Charles’ coronation either, it is reported that First Lady Jill Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris are being considered to attend the ceremony as representatives.
The UK Telegraph also reports that anyone who receives an invitation to the coronation is asked to respond by Monday 3 April.
The coronation will take place at Westminster Abbey in London and will be attended by Prince and Princess Akishino from Japan.
Attention is also focused on the attendance of the King’s second son, Prince Harry, and his wife, Meghan, but although invitations have been sent, it is not yet clear whether they will attend.
If they do attend, they are not expected to be allowed to take part in the parade of royal family members.
It has been reported that the couple may have set some conditions for their attendance, as 6 May, when the coronation takes place, is also the fourth birthday of Prince and Princess Harry’s eldest son, Archie.
