The England national team’s run to the top eight in the Qatar World Cup soccer tournament is causing an unexpected stir. Many of the players’ wives, children, and other family members are reportedly fed up with the nuisance of guests on the super-luxury cruise ship where they stayed, and have escaped to five-star hotels and other destinations. The Daily Mail reported the news.

The Daily Mail reported, “Grealish families lead mass exodus.”

Hell on HMS WAG!” Festive passengers urinate from the fifth floor into the atrium, unable to sleep at night because of celebrating fans, and Harry Maguire and Jack Grealish’s family lead a mass exodus from a luxury liner in Qatar.”

The December 5 article, which carried the rather shocking headline, described the commotion that occurred on the HMS WAG, the ultra-luxury liner on which the England team’s wife and other family members were staying.

The article noted that “the England team’s family was not impressed at all by the atmosphere on the 1 billion pound (166.8 billion yen) luxury liner. An insider disclosed that the family felt “isolated” at sea and did not want to share space with the 6,000 other passengers.

This was due to the presence of other passengers. The article goes on to report that “one drunken guest urinated from the fifth floor into the atrium, while a rowdy fan returned late at night after a game and disturbed his sleep.

Furthermore, because of the problems in calling the players, the families got off the ship after 10 nights and moved to a luxury villa with a private pool or a five-star hotel near the stadium in Doha. It was reported that it was the Maguire and Grealish families who first pointed out the problem.

The England national team is full of star players who earn hundreds of millions of yen a year in the Premier League and other leagues. The family, who are said to be celebrity wives, probably could not stand such an environment.

The team beat Senegal in the first round of the final tournament to advance to the top eight, where they will face France in the quarterfinals on December 9.
