French national team’s top scorer at the World Cup in Qatar, Kylian Mbappe (24), has returned to Paris Saint-Germain after giving up his vacation, according to a report in the French newspaper L’Equipe on December 22.
We are very happy to see him.
Mbappe himself appeared at the training ground Candelouge on the morning of December 21, less than 72 hours after the World Cup final loss to Argentina on December 18, when he scored a hat trick.
The paper reported that “Mbappe did not just drop by the training ground to examine his injured ankle, but to return to training for the resumption of matches with the club the day after his 24th birthday,” and that “it was unexpected and unlikely, right after such an event.
Galtier and his team have allowed national team players who participated in the World Cup a 10-day vacation from the day of the defeat. Like his colleague, Argentina’s winning FW Lionel Messi (35), Mbappe also expected to return to the team in early January of next year.
The paper said, “It seems that Mbappe did not have the patience to wait until then. This sudden return shows two things: first, the Parisian wants to move on to other things as soon as possible, and the best way for him to do that is to get down to business. Secondly, Mbappe is already ready to move on to other goals: the Champions League and the Ballon d’Or,” he continued.
According to the newspaper, Galtier said on December 22: “It is a strong sign for everyone to see a player who is disappointed not to lift the most beautiful trophy, even if he is the highest scorer, get in touch with the team very quickly and get ready for the next round. We are very happy to see him”.
