The 2023 season will see the Chiefs and Patriots take part in regular season games in Germany.

London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium–the only stadium outside the United States with dedicated NFL facilities–will also host two international games next season The Bills and Titans will play in them. The Jaguars will once again visit their second home, Wembley Stadium, as part of a multi-year deal to play games in London.

The 2023 season will see the Chiefs and Patriots take part in regular season games in Germany. The host city will be announced shortly; the NFL has already announced that Munich and Frankfurt will host games in Germany over the next four years. The Chiefs and Patriots participate in the NFL’s International Home Marketing Area (IHMA) program, which allows the two teams to secure marketing rights in countries outside the United States, and both teams have received marketing rights in Germany.

The Bills and Titans previously played in London in 2015 and 2018, respectively, and this upcoming opportunity will be the second trip to London for both teams; with the IHMA approved and the UK marketing rights in hand, the Jaguars will be playing their 10th memorable London game. The Chiefs and Patriots will make their German debut following the first German international game in Munich in 2022.

With ticket demand and enthusiasm for the league growing around the world, the 2022 International Game saw record attendance and viewership numbers.

Growing the league and the sport internationally is a key strategic priority for the NFL, and we are excited to once again host five games outside the United States in 2023,” said Peter O’Reilly, Executive Vice President, NFL Club Operations and Major Events & International. We understand how important live regular season games are to passionate fans around the world and appreciate the strong, long-term commitment of the clubs to this important effort. Globally, interest in our games is at an all-time high, and we look forward to visiting the UK and Germany again in 2023 with the NFL’s leading clubs and star players.”

The International Game will not be held in Mexico in 2023 due to renovations at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. O’Reilly said, “Mexico, with its enthusiastic and still growing fan base, is an important part of the NFL’s international growth strategy. We remain committed to engaging with Mexico’s great fans year-round and look forward to hosting games in Mexico again in the future.

Bills Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Ron LaMacchia said, “We are proud to be selected to participate in the league’s International Game in 2023 and continue to contribute to the global development of the sport. The NFL has done a great job in this endeavor, and we look forward to giving the Bills mafia a taste of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which was a very important inspiration in the design of our new stadium, which is slated to open in 2026.”

Titans President and CEO Burke Nihil added, “We are honored to be one of the NFL’s leading teams in 2023 and to play a role in fueling the sport’s incredible growth in the UK. ‘The games we attended in 2018 and the atmosphere in London leading up to them were truly exciting. Since then we have continued to interact with Titans fans in the UK and they have grown to be one of our most passionate fan bases. We can’t wait to see them again at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season, and I know many of our fans here in Tennessee are looking forward to the trip.”

Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said, “We couldn’t be more excited to be attending the games in Germany this fall and showing Chiefs Kingdom to more people around the world. Our team and fans have had great experiences in the past in London and Mexico City as part of the International Series. We look forward to working with the NFL as they seek to continue to grow the game in Germany.

We are thrilled to have been selected as the team to play in Germany,” said Patriots owner Robert Kraft. “We are undefeated in our last three international games, thanks in part to the great support of our fans. We know we have a very passionate fan base in Germany and we are looking forward to finally playing there. The fans will create a great atmosphere. I am sure it will be an unforgettable experience and one of the highlights of the 2023 season,” he continued.

And Jaguars President Mark Lamping said the following. The Jaguars and Wembley Stadium made international game history in the capital in 2022 with the highest attendance ever for an NFL game in London. We will host at least two more home games at Wembley, each time aiming to make it bigger and better than the last. But our commitment to London and the UK does not stop at one home game each year. Very gratifyingly, we have a loyal fan base that is continually growing, the JagTag program reaches nearly 90,000 young people across the country, and the Union Jacks Foundation ensures that we support a wide range of vulnerable youth. The Jaguars have always planned to be part of the London NFL scene and look forward to returning in 2023.”

With the expansion of the NFL schedule in 2021, up to four teams from conferences with teams eligible to play their ninth regular-season home game will now be designated to play an international game on a neutral site each year.
