John Cena, who played Jacob in “Wild Speed,” shares what “broke his heart” during the filming of “Wild Speed.
The filming of “Wild Speed” was intense.
The movie “Wild Speed: Jet Break” was released in 2021 and was a huge hit. It is the ninth film in the ” Wild Speed ” series, and it was noteworthy that Jacob, Dominic and Mia’s brother, was finally introduced here.
Joining a series that has kept the same main cast members for 20 years since 2001 was a challenge for John Cena, the former WWE star who played Jacob. What broke my heart in Edinburgh, and I saw this firsthand, was that a $250,000 (about $36 million) limited edition Jaguar was wrecked right in front of me. And I couldn’t even scream because I was on camera myself. But seeing that Jaguar completely destroyed hurt a part of me badly.”
A precious Jaguar was wrecked right in front of me…. And even if I wanted to rear-end it, I couldn’t…. For a car enthusiast like him, it was a tough experience.
Many famous cars appear in “Wild Speed,” a car action movie, and many cars are prepared for filming. For example, the scene in “Wild Speed SKY MISSION” where a super luxury super car by W Motors, a Lycan Hyper Sport worth over 300 million yen, fell from the top of a high-rise building and wrecked was of course CG, but there are many times when cars are actually destroyed. In the ranking of luxury cars in “Wild Speed” published by Screen Rant before the release of “Jet Break,” the number 10 was the 2005 Aston Martin DB9 at $175,000, which means that Jaguar is even more than this. How could they really have destroyed such a car?
However, the production team may not be that comfortable with destroying cars. Sang Kang, who plays Han, says that during the filming of “TOKYO DRIFT,” he “slammed [his car] 350Z or 370Z into a wall. When he went to the superintendent to report the incident with the fear of possible anger or being fired, he was told, “Don’t worry about it. It’s not your car and you don’t have to pay for it. Take another car!” He revealed that he was treated lightly.
Currently, “Wild Speed” is filming its 10th movie. In the new film, Dom, Jacob, and Mia’s grandmother will make her first appearance and will be played by the great actor Rita Moreno.
