Emily Blunt, who co-starred with Tom Cruise in the 2014 film “Edge of Tomorrow,” revealed on the podcast “Smartless” what Tom said to her when she expressed her weakness during filming.

In “Edge of Tomorrow,” Tom, Emily, and the other cast members who play soldiers actually wear combat uniforms called “mobility suits,” rather than CG, and according to Emily, it was just too much work. It would have been nice if we could have done it with CG, but we wanted to shoot it in a tactile way. When you hear the word “tactile,” you might imagine something pleasant or comfortable, but that suit was anything but pleasant. When Cruise saw that, he didn’t know what to do,” he said, confessing that he cried because the suit was so tough.

Emily said she was worried about whether she could handle the filming wearing a suit weighing 38 kilograms, and she cried to Tom, but he gave her a hard time.

She said, “I was like, ‘Tom, I don’t know how I’m going to get through this shoot,’ and I just started crying. ‘ I said, ‘I’m kind of freaking out about the shoot. Tom didn’t know what to do, and he just stared at me for a long time (without saying anything). And then he said, ‘Hey, hey, hey, hey. Tom used the word “stop fretting,” which is a banned word in the United States. Fortunately, Emily seemed to take Tom’s “unexpected words” in good stride and “laughed” at them. She also said that it helped her get through the shoot.
