Inter made eight changes to their starting lineup from the January 7 match against Monza, with the exception of Lautaro Martinez, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Alessandro Bastoni.

 Inter and Parma (2nd division) met in the Coppa Italia 5th round (round 16).

Parma, led by Gianluigi Buffon, got off to an inauspicious start, and in the 38th minute, Parma took the lead when Stanko Juric fired home a powerful shot from a flick off the line after a vertical pass up front. Inter would finish the first half a goal behind.

 

In the second half, Inter continued to struggle against Parma’s organized defense and made a number of substitutions, including Edin Dzeko and Federico Dimarco. In the 88th minute, L. Martinez fell down and shot from a cross, but the ball hit the goalkeeper and went into the net. The ball hit the defender and went into the net for the long-awaited equalizer in the last minute.

 

The game went into extra time, and Inter continued to dominate. In the 110th minute, Inter crossed from the left and Buffon punched the ball clear. The ball was headed directly at Francesco Acerbi, who headed the ball over Buffon’s head and into the goal.

 

Inter held firm and the game ended 2-1. Inter finally managed to win the game in extra time and beat Parma to advance to the quarterfinals.
