The 20th match of the Premier League season took place on January 15 between Chelsea and Crystal Palace.

Chelsea had the ball in their hands early on, and Crystal Palace had a couple of chances, but were spared thanks to some good saves from goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga. The visitors came close to scoring towards the end of the first half, but Lewis Hall’s shot from a Conor Gallagher cross in the 41st minute was just wide of the target. The score remained scoreless.

At halftime, Mihajlo Mudryk, who had just been announced as a full transfer from Shakhtar, came on to the pitch. Wearing a Chelsea uniform and a Ukrainian flag, he greeted the “Stamford Bridge” crowd.

In the 64th minute, Chelsea scored the long-awaited first goal from a set piece. Hakim Ziyek sent in a soft cross from the left side, and Kai Hafele in the center of the box headed it into the left side of the goal.

In the final stages of the game, Crystal Palace pushed forward in numbers, but Chelsea managed to get away with it. Chelsea’s first win in five official matches, and Crystal Palace’s third straight loss.

Chelsea will play Liverpool on January 21. Crystal Palace will host Manchester U on January 18 in the postponed game of the seventh round.
