On January 16, the 18th Serie A match was held between Atalanta and Salernitana. Atalanta won 8-2 at home.

Furthermore, the last time a team scored eight goals in a single Serie A match dates back to Inter’s 8-2 win over Padova in April 1996.
This is the fourth time since Gian Piero Gasperini took over as coach in the 2016-17 season that Atalanta has scored seven or more goals in a Serie A match. During the same period, Milan, Lazio, Inter, Napoli, and Juventus have each also scored seven goals in one game “just once”.
The next match for sixth-place Atalanta will take place on January 22, when they will face third-place Juventus, who are three points ahead of them.
