The first leg of the semifinal of the Carabao Cup (EFL Cup), England’s league cup, was held on January 25 between Nottingham Forest and Manchester U.

Manchester U, the away side, took the lead.

The match between Nottingham Forest, who beat Wolverhampton to advance to the semifinals in the domestic cup for the first time in 31 years since the 1991-1992 season, and Manchester U, who beat Charlton Athletic (3rd division) to reach the last four. From the semifinals, the game will be played in a home-and-away format.

In the 6th minute of the match, Marcus Rashford dribbled up the left side of the field, entered the penalty area, and calmly slotted home with his left foot to give Manchester U the lead on the road.

Nottingham Forest followed up with a goal in the 23rd minute when Sam Surridge found the net on a counter, but the goal was disallowed due to an offside decision. Manchester U then scored their first goal since joining the club in the 45th minute off an Antony shot, and Manchester U extended their lead to two goals in the first half.

After that, neither team was able to score until Bruno Fernandez scored the go-ahead goal in the 89th minute to end the game. The second leg will be held on February 1 at the home of Manchester U, who won the first leg.
