What Rey in “Star Wars” has shown us

In 1977, George Lucas shocked the world with the film “Star Wars. After the original trilogy was produced, a prequel was released from 1999 to 2005, and from 2015 to 2019, the world after the original era.

With the Sequel trilogy, Lucas left production and the generation that grew up watching “Star Wars” took over the baton, and the characters became the next generation. Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo were introduced in a mentor-like role, giving a sense of the years.

That said, the audience was curious about the identity of the main character, Rey. Ultimately, she was revealed to be Palpatine’s grandson, but she herself came to identify herself as Rey Skywalker, thanks to the affection of Luke and Princess Leia. The scene struck a chord with many audiences, and Daisy Ridley, who played Rey, also thinks the setup is very valuable. She told US Collider.

‘What was interesting to me about the last film was that you don’t have to be anything to be a hero, or even the worst blood in the universe to be a hero. You are not your parents. You are not your grandparents. You are not your lineage. You are not the generation before you.”

For better or worse, people are greatly influenced by the families they come from. The world of “Star Wars” is a fantasy, but some may be encouraged by Rey’s strength. And after hearing this sentiment from Daisy, it is even more poignant to think about the importance Rey places on the family she has chosen for herself. Even if you don’t get along with your own family, you can still be a family with people who are not related to you by blood.

Incidentally, the idea that Rey is Palpatine’s grandson was not even confirmed during the filming of “Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker,” and at one point it was even assumed that Obi-Wan was the one connected to Rey.

It would be fun to think that it was Obi-Wan’s grandson, but if you listen to Daisy’s thoughts, she would have been happy to be Palpatine’s grandson. Nevertheless, she said, “You can be whoever you want to be. But I also like the version where you can fix your mistakes and you can’t help what you were born with,” she also commented.
