The semifinals of the FIFA Club World Cup Morocco 2022 took place on February 8 between Real Madrid (Europe) and Al Ahli (Africa).
Real Madrid, the “Champions of Europe,” will be the first team to play in the Club World Cup, which started on February 1.
Real Madrid won the Champions League in the 2021-22 season for an unprecedented 14th time, and will be looking for their first win in two official matches since their 0-1 defeat to Mallorca in the 20th round of this season’s La Liga on February 5. Al Ahli will be looking for their first whitewash in two official matches. Al Ahli, meanwhile, were runners-up in the CAF Champions League final in the 2021-22 season, losing 0-2 to Widad Casablanca. However, since Widad Casablanca will be representing the host country in the tournament, they will enter the tournament as the “African champions. After defeating Auckland City (Oceania) 3-0 in their first match, they followed that up with a 1-0 win over the Seattle Sounders (North and Central America and the Caribbean) in the second round to reach the semi-finals.
Real Madrid made three changes to their starting lineup from the Mallorca match. David Alaba, Luka Modric, and Toni Kroos returned to the starting lineup. Al Ahly, on the other hand, made four changes from the Seattle Sounders.
After a rather quiet start to the match, Real Madrid began to create more and more chances, with Aurelian Stuart Amenyi and Federico Valverde firing in shots in the 27th and 37th minutes, respectively. The goalkeeper was denied by a shot to the far side, but Valverde reacted to the spilled ball. With his first touch, he danced past his opponent and slammed home the shot. Real Madrid added the winning goal.
In the 63rd minute, Al Ahli received the ball on the right of the penalty area, and Hussein El Shahat made a deep cut, and Eduardo Camavinga came up to him and put his foot on the ball. The play was ruled a foul and Al Ahli was awarded a penalty kick. Ali Maaloul firmly deposited the penalty kick and Al Ahli pulled one back.
Al Ahli continued to gain momentum, and in the 69th minute, Mohamed Magdy headed a cross from the right side of the field directly into the net. In the 79th minute, Taher Mohammed headed in a corner kick from the left, but goalkeeper Andriy Lunin was able to get the ball away. Lunin, who replaced the injured Thibaut Courtois in the goalmouth, made a fine save to prevent another goal.
Real Madrid had a difficult time with Al Ahly pressing them, but Vinicius did a great job in the final minutes of the game. The Real Madrid keeper was called for a penalty kick by Modric, but Mohamed El-Shennawy read him and missed the shot. Real Madrid was unable to increase the margin.

The “young gem” responded to his call-up to the big stage with a result.
The game was over. Real Madrid won the match and advanced to the final where Al Hilal (Asia) awaited. Both the third-place match and the final will be held on August 8.
