Republican Nikki Haley, who served as UN Ambassador in the former Trump administration, announced her candidacy for the 2024 presidential election via video on February 14. She will be the first major opponent to Trump, who is seeking the Republican nomination in that election.

In the video, Haley condemns the repeated misrule by Washington’s elite class.

She said that now is the time for a new generation of leaders to restore fiscal responsibility, border security, and national strength and national pride.

She is expected to hold an event on February 15 to launch his campaign in Charleston, South Carolina, where she served as governor.

Trump, who announced his own candidacy last year, recently told reporters that Haley had contacted him to say she was considering a run. At that time, he said he responded to Haley that she should run.

If Haley, the daughter of Indian immigrants, is successful in the party primaries, she would be the first female Asian American to receive the Republican nomination for president.
