The 95th Academy Awards ceremony was held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on 12 March (Sunday *local time). Lady Gaga appeared on the champagne carpet just before the ceremony. Gaga had initially reportedly declined to perform because she was busy filming Joker: Folie à Deux, the sequel to the film The Joker, so her surprise appearance caused a furore among internet users.

Just before the ceremony, Gaga appeared on the champagne carpet with Bloodpop, co-writer of Best Song nominee ‘Hold My Hand’ (theme song from the film Top Gun Maverick), and sashayed onto the carpet with flashes of light. As she did so, she noticed a male cameraman passing by her fall, and she turned around and went to the male cameraman with a startled look on her face. After asking the photographer if he was okay, Gaga walked down the carpet wearing her charismatic aura again.

Netizens who saw the video posted on Instagram by People magazine in the US commented: ‘Her most important rule is to always be human’, ‘Her behaviour of being nice [to people] is natural for her. She’s a queen’, ‘She’s always first class’, ‘She’s a beautiful, kind soul♡’, ‘Beautiful on the outside and the inside’, ‘You didn’t even hesitate’, ‘Another reason to love her’, ‘She’s amazing. We need more people like her”.

Gaga performed ‘Hold My Hand’ at the awards ceremony. She emotionally sang the song almost entirely without makeup, impressing the audience and the audience.
