It seems that Francia Raisa remains a ‘lifelong benefactor’ for Selena Gomez.
She recently appeared in the latest episode of the Apple TV+ documentary series ‘Dear…’ singer and actress Selena Gomez, who appeared in the latest episode of the series, reflected on the kidney transplant operation she underwent in 2017.
Selena Gomez says on Apple TV’s ‘Dear…’ that she’s forever “in debt” to Francia Raisa who saved her life:

In 2015, Selena announced that she had lupus (systemic lupus erythematosus), an autoimmune disease designated as incurable; in 2017, she was donated a kidney by her friend and actress Francia Raisa.
On the programme, Selena said, “My best friend. Her name is Francia. She told me at the time, ‘I’m definitely going to get tested for a match’,” recounting her interaction with Francia at the time, she said, “Three days later, she went to get tested and found out that she was a match. It was one of those moments where I felt as if I was being watched over. I was very, very, very lucky”, she continued.
It should be noted that there is currently no cure for lupus and up to 60% of patients will develop kidney complications.
‘I understand that finding a donor is not something that happens to a lot of people. I don’t take what happened to me lightly because I know the consequences and the seriousness of such a situation’. Selena said of Francia: ‘You will never find anyone who is more indebted than her. It was incredibly moving to know that there is someone who would not hesitate to be a donor”, she added.
In March 2021, four years after her kidney transplant operation, Selena retweeted Francia’s tweet in honour of International Kidney Day.
Thank you for blessing me. I am forever grateful to you. https://t.co/qW5Xm7GJpY

In her tweet on the day, Francia accompanied the tweet with a photo of herself in the hospital and opened with, “If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’ve kept the kidney donation process private,” adding, “But now I’m sharing my experience and impacting the population by I feel the time is right to feel comfortable and confident in using my platform to raise awareness about different kidney diseases”.
