Johnny Depp won a big victory in the mudslinging trial with his ex-wife Amber Heard. The film depicts the historical romance between Louis XV and his mistress Madame du Barry.

The visual released by Deadline shows Louis XV as Johnny, blindfolded in a fur-trimmed hat and gold costume, with platinum blonde hair and white makeup.

According to Variety, the film stars, directs, and co-writes French filmmaker Maïwenn, and tells the story of the historical romance between Louis XV and his mistress Madame du Barry. The film is said to have begun shooting in and around Paris, France, in July of this year, right after the trial with Amber was over.

The story centers on Jeanne, a young working-class woman who uses her intelligence and charm to climb the social hierarchy. Louis XV falls in love with her, unaware that she is a high-class prostitute, and welcomes her into the Palace of Versailles against all opposition. This is said to become a major scandal.

This film is Johnny’s first film since “Minamata,” which was released in 2020. Johnny was forced to drop “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore” that same year after breaking a defamation suit with a British tabloid that described him as a “wife-beater”.
