Britain’s royal Prince William was spotted dining at a gay restaurant in Warsaw, Poland, on Wednesday night (22 March local time).
And he ordered a very cheap menu…?
The restaurant is described online as a ‘queer space’, and patrons were reportedly surprised to find Prince William dining here. Furthermore, the restaurant’s dinner menu was less than $10.
A video, believed to have been secretly taken by a local, shows Prince William sitting with a group of staff while a server takes his order.
A source told the Daily Mail, “The Kensington Palace team booked a restaurant near where they worked and Prince William decided to join the team for a meal.
Pavel Zasim, the restaurant’s owner, told the British newspaper that he had ‘no idea’ that Prince William was coming and that the table had been reserved for a birthday party for a woman called Daisy and 11 guests. Ms Zasim said, “But then a bodyguard turned up and said this was not Daisy’s birthday party, and then Prince William walked in.”
Ms Zasim said Prince William ate a sandwich ‘sandwich in a braided roll with pulled pork’ during the three-hour meal. She continued, “I think he liked the menu because he ate everything.”
Prince William’s visit to a gay restaurant would have been a big one for Poland’s LGBTQIA+ community. According to the 2022 ILGA-Europe report, Poland has one of the worst gay rights situations in the European Union countries, with no recognition of same-sex couples in law.
The Prince of Wales made a surprise visit to Poland to highlight the UK’s support for the country, which has been helping refugees expelled by Russia’s war against Ukraine. He also met with British and Polish troops stationed near the Ukrainian-Polish border and praised their ‘co-operation in support of the Ukrainian people and their freedom’.
